Race Relations Policy

In order to educate pupils of diverse religious, social, economic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds, it is essential that Belvoir Park Primary will provide equal educational opportunities for all individuals.

The school will foster an understanding of cultural diversity and cultivate both the ethical and moral values to support its principles.

The school community will strive to build an environment free from intimidation and harassment.

Racist attitudes and beliefs may manifest themselves in threats of violence, acts of violence and in other subtle ways however none of these will be tolerated.

Racism devalues the self-worth of individuals and hinders the learning process in school.

Racist behaviour will be subject to all sanctions contained within the Equal Opportunities, Bullying and the related Pastoral Care policies

All staff in school has the primary responsibility for educating pupils about their responsibilities within Circle-Time or Religious Education.

The Pastoral Care Teacher, Mr. McBurney in consultation with the principal or other professionals will provide help for individuals who encounter Racist behaviour.

Confidentiality will be maintained to the extent permitted under the law, and the rights of individuals involved will be protected.

Governors, SEELB and significant others will be involved in serious incidents of Racism.

Racism will be considered by Governors as a matter for suspension and expulsion.
